Initial Green Belt Project: County Goal-Setting Dashboards
Problem Statement: Ohio’s 88 County Veterans Service Commissions are tasked with connecting veterans to Department of Veteran’s Affairs disability compensation and pension.
Rating the county performance in these areas is difficult due to the different demographics of each county. This project will contextualize the counties’ performance in these areas by looking at their connection rates along with the economic and social factors that are correlated with higher or lower connection to veteran’s benefits. This will allow for more detailed understanding of each county’s situation and, ultimately, more veterans getting the benefits they deserve.
Goal Statement: This project will help to identify counties that are employing best practices so that such practices can be spread around the state.
Noteworthy Findings: Already, we have noticed several counties that appear to be performing better than expected.
Progress to Date: Large amounts of data have been collected. We are developing a numerical index to quantify the strength of factors within each county and about each county that correlate to higher connection rates.
Results: Project is currently in the planning/development stage.
